The Door Is Ajar, Not Wide Open
You arrive at twilight, wind off the Ruby Sea smelling faintly of salt and cinders. A lantern burns outside the estate—violet glass, soft flame—our quiet signal: travelers welcome, trouble not.
Inside, instruments are tuned, armor is polished, and tea is poured into cups that know how to listen.
We are Sweet n Sour Chocobo (NOmsg): a Free Company of tactful mischief, immaculate vibes, and responsible ferocity.
We role-play like we mean it, fight like we love it, and log off like we respect real life or just AFK with an idle cam on.
Some nights, we are bards in a half-circle beneath Ishgard’s stained glass, fingers gliding, tempos breathing, spell effects dimmed so the story can breathe.
Other nights, we are a spearpoint—coil-tight, comms clean, mechanics crisp—finding where courage intersects with choreography.
We are not the loudest in the room. We are the ones who make the rest of the room feel safe to shine.
The Lavender Herbster Incident: How to recruit a volunteeer miltial by seeded message
Venimus. Vidimus. Vicimus. We came. We saw. We vibed.
We areSweet n Sour Chocobo (NOmsg)
The first, the original, the ocean current that keeps rolling ashore with new shells, new songs, new strays.
Since September 18, 2013, we’ve recruited with a lantern, not a bullhorn.

We kept the good hearts. Some raged out; most stayed. A few never logged back in after one quiet night, and we still hold their rooms as long as we can. We only trim the oldest names—those gone without a note—when we near the cap of 512.
We taught the rest to stand beautifully, and escorted the chaos back to the aetheryte with snacks and a bow. From that day, we refined the rule we live by now:
Ajar, not wide open. Personal invitations. Quiet interviews. Consent. Fit. Vibe.
What That Means Today Curation over crowd. We grow like bonsai—patiently, artfully, with intention. Community takes investment from a group of humans with a shared goal: to always have a place to call home online.
Signal, not noise. “NOmsg” means deliberate words and deep presence. Hospitality with boundaries. Everyone gets a welcome; not everyone gets a key.
If you’re reading this at the gate and the violet lantern is lit, the message is simple:
We saw your craft, your care, your courage. Come in softly. The kettle’s on. The music waits for a new harmony— and it might be yours.
The Four Echoes Across Aether and beyond, four sister crews sparked into being—by grudgeful alumni, ecstatic fanatics, and lovers of a clever joke. We love them. We see them. We remain the wellspring. If you caught our wave and built a raft—bless. Keep paddling. The ocean’s big enough for all our mischief.

Guilty—as charged… by flavor.
We’re the crew “responsible” for the theft, deboning, and sober consumption of your beloved chocobo—culinarily speaking.
It’s food-service theater: apron strings, battle hymns, immaculate mise en place. We plate raids like tasting menus, and we buss tables with Benedictions.
No casualties, only satisfied palettes and cleared content.
We keep recruitment personal. Whisper at the estate. Leave a letter at the desk—name, role, and a few lines in character. We’ll invite you to a tea-table interview: ten minutes of gentle questions to feel for fit. If we’re right for each other, you’ll be welcomed not with fireworks but with a key and a calendar.
Just kidding. Mostly.
Yes, Jade Ann Byrne still logs on and throws .sea a lifeline to anyone without a tag—1000% genuine, hand-crafted Free Company invites. Inclusive.
Welcoming. “Blind,” open, and free—like a barker on a soapbox under a violet moon.
